This tour takes you from the colonial heritage of Cochin, known as the ‘Gateway to Kerala’ and one of the world’s most stunning natural harbours, to the banks of Lake Vembanad with the beautiful backwaters and cluster of little islands of Kumarakom. Experience cruising in an authentic houseboat along the palm fringed waterways, followed by the beaches in Marari, for a rejuvenating stay by the shores of the Arabian Sea. Covering striking scenery, heritage and culture, as well as charming hotels and resorts, this gently paced tour takes you to some of India’s most enchanting areas.

Itinerary

Day 1

London to Cochin (via Dubai)

You will be met on arrival and transferred to Vivanta by Taj – Malabarfor a 2 night stay. In the afternoon experience a traditional Kathakali dance performance, known for its heavy, elaborate makeup and costumes; the colourful and fascinating costumes of Kathakali are among the most recognised icons of Kerala.

Day 2

Cochin

Following breakfast at the hotel venture out to explore the city of Cochin. Known as the Spice Island, here witness the iconic fishing nets, Jewish Synagogue and spend the afternoon wandering around Fort Cochin at your own pace. The fort is a heady mix of well-preserved colonial history, a lively art scene, exceptional seafood and elements that are still reminiscent of Kerala’s indigenous culture.

Day 3

Cochin to Kumarakom

Today you will be collected from your hotel and transferred by road to Kumarakom for a 2 night stay at Kumarakom Lake Resort. The remainder of the day is free for you to spend as you wish.

Day 4

Kumarakom

Enjoy a day at leisure, partaking in a variety of optional activities, including Yoga and meditation classes or a cookery demonstration to learn some of the secrets of traditional Kerala vegetarian and seafood cooking. Head out of the resort to visit the village and school to interact with the locals.

Day 5

Kumarakom to Backwaters

Today board an authentic Houseboatand spend the day sailing on the backwaters, dining on local cuisine and enjoying an overnight stay onboard the boat as it meanders down the waterways.

Day 6

Backwaters to Marari

After breakfast on the houseboat disembark at Alleppey where you have the opportunity to wander around Alleppey Market. Here street markets and captivating tourist spots come together to give you a chance to view and purchase unusual items. From here you will be driven to Marari for a rejuvenating 3 nights at Carnoustie Ayurveda & Wellness Resort.

Day 7

Marari

Spend these days at leisure, relaxing by the pool, on the beach or enjoying all that the resort has to offer. Take long walks or bike rides, explore the village or simply relax in the resort spa with restorative Ayurveda treatments and various Yoga classes. The resort provides a variety of wellness options to ensure guests leave feeling invigorated.

Day 9

Marari to London (via Cochin and Dubai)

Today you will be collected from the hotel and transferred by road to Cochin Airport for your flight to Dubai and onwards to London.
