Day 2

Paro to Punakha

Today you will travel to COMO Uma Punakha, your base for 3 nights, perhaps visiting Thimphu en route. Enjoy the picturesque drive as you snake up the mountain pass of Dochu La with its forests of fluttering prayer flags, maze of memorial chortens and sweeping views of the main Himalayan range.

Day 3

Punakha

Enjoy a full day exploring the scenic Punakha Valley, observing both Khamsum Yuley Namgay Chorten, a shrine recently built by the royal family, and the 17th century Punakha Dzong fortress monastery. In the afternoon take a short walk across rice paddies to the fertility temple, Chimmi Lhakhang.

Day 4

Punakha

En route visit Tamchhu Lhakhang, accessed by crossing an ancient suspension bridge. Upon arrival in Paro, spend the rest of the day relaxing or trying Bhutanese activities such as archery or a traditional hot stone bath.
