In the morning after a lovely breakfast hopefully outside, your driver/guide will take you on a cultural day trip visiting the authentic Hovland Farm where people have lived since ca. 600 A.D. The farm is still in full function today. The farm is located 1 hour away from your hotel 29.2 Aurland.

Arriving to Hovland Farm, 180 meters above sea level, you will have a beautiful view over the Sognefjord and Balestand and be greeted by the owners Kjersti and Geir. Your hosts will show you around the farm, tell you about its history and show you what they are working on. You will also be met by their small sheep herd, which loves attention and will very willingly accept a piece of bread or two.

Next you will be invited into the smoking house where you will see and learn about the different activities the farmers did in the evenings and in the winter like carding wool, spinning yarn, and carving different tools and furniture out of wood. Your hosts will give you an insight into how people used to live at this farm from the 1700 to 1900s. If you are interested, you are more than welcome to try out some of the activities.

The day will be concluded with an authentic, old-fashioned Norwegian lunch, either outside overlooking the view or inside one of the farmhouses if the weather is bad.

Urnes Stave Church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and this remarkable wooden structure with its unusually rich fixtures, wood carvings and intricate construction is a most stunning contribution to the history of world architecture. Built in the 1130s it is the oldest in Norway - hence also in the world, as the stave church as such is a particularly Norwegian phenomenon. Set in the wall on the north side you will find a portal from an earlier church. With its wonderful winding ornamental carvings curiously alluding to pre-Christian Norse religion, it is certainly one of a kind.
A local expert guide will give you a guided tour of the church.

Your day starts with meeting your driver/guide at the hotel. First you get to enjoy wonderful Hellesylt - Geiranger ferry, upon arrival to Geiranger you will have a small spot. You will learn interesting facts about Geirangerfjord and will see famous waterfalls.

The deep blue UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord is surrounded by majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and lush, green vegetation. The area’s unique natural surroundings were created during a succession of ice ages, when glaciers carved out deep fjords and shaped the high mountains – and it is not a coincidence that Geirangerfjord today often appears on lists of the most spectacular places in the world. Impressive waterfalls cast cascades of thundering water from almost vertical over kilometer-high mountain sides. Among them are the famous falls De syv søstrene (“the Seven Sisters”), Friaren (“the Suitor”) and Brudesløret (“the Bridal Veil”). They tease the cliffs with feather‐ light sheer veils of mist, whose mission is to create a never‐ending display of changing rainbows to fill you with delight and wonder.

With its dramatic and spectacular scenery, Loen has been a magnet for tourists for more than a century. Already at the end of the 19th century cruise ships from Europe began calling at Loen, and hundreds of local farmers were involved in transporting tourists in horse-drawn transport from the fjord to the valleys and glaciers. Now visitors can take the Loen Skylift to Mt. Hoven (1011 m.a.s.l.), and see the fjord landscape from above.

Loen Skylift brings you from the fjord to Mt. Hoven at 1011 m.a.s.l. in only 5 minutes. Enjoy the great panorama view of the fjord landscape, the mountains and the Jostedalsbreen National Park. Day 13

After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel. Before heading to Ålesund, you will get to visit Runde Island with your driver/guide who will meet you at your hotel.

Runde Island is famous for bird colonies, and it is 2-hour drive away to the south-west from Ålesund. The route often goes above the waters and via numerous bridges and includes ferry Hareid- Sulasund. You will pass gorgeous mountains and colorful traditional Norwegian villages on your way to Herøy Municipality, where the bird island of Runde lies. One of such villages – Remøya – has a 428- metre long bridge to Runde built in 1982. Before the bridge was built, the only way to get to the island was by sea. The sea way is still available, but must be individually booked in advance.

Runde is the third largest and the southernmost bird national park in Norway, and has the widest variety of sea birds species in Scandinavia – 230 in total. During the nesting season from February to August every year, more than 500,000 sea birds take over the island. Around 100,000 pairs of puffins nest here, but large colonies of great skuas, gannets and shags also establish themselves here during the nesting season.

Guests can try their hand at real science by floating off a small self-named boat to study oceanic streams.

The nature areas on Runde are vulnerable, important and interesting for research. Runde has also been called "a treasure Island" because of the finds of gold coins from the wrecked Dutch ship “Akerendam” from 1725. Some divers are still trying their luck hoping to find the treasure.

Well-marked trails make your time on the island enjoyable, while you will stay safe. You can climb 300- meter high peaks, walk along the shore towards one of the oldest lighthouses built in 18th century.
The total area of the island is 6 km2. Sea trips are not safe unless guided.

Alnes Lighthouse lies in the fishing community Alnes at the island Godøy. The lighthouse from 1876 is protected, and a relic of Norwegian coastal culture. Here you can enjoy exciting historical exhibitions, and buy local souvenir and handcrafts.

After this almost 6 hour excursion you will be brought to Aalesund Airport and will have a flight to Oslo.

Upon arrival, your driver will be waiting for you at the arrival hall to provide an enjoyable arrival and transfer from Oslo Airport to your hotel. The approximate transfer time is 1 hour.
