Day 4
Excursion starts:
Today in the morning you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to El Calafate vía Buenos Aires (estimated flying time from Iguazú to Buenos Aires: 2 hours / from Buenos Aires to El Calafate: 3 hours 20 minutes).
El Calafate is the entrance to the national park, where part of the continental ices are protected, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. The town is situated by Lake Argentino, a green water surface covering 1,600 km2 and has great mysterious depths, like all lakes originated from glaciers. El Calafate receives its name from the small bush calafate, indigenous of Patagonia. Its fruit is a delicious berry very good for the elaboration of jam.
Upon arrival you will be driven to your lodge, Eolo. Eolo is located 30 minutes away from El Calafate, on the way to Perito Moreno Glacier, on the eastern side of Mount Frías. It stretches over a 3,000 hectare property. From the lodge, you will be able to observe Lago Argentino towards the north, La Anita Valley towards the east, and the Torres del Paine and the Rico branch of the same lake towards the south. The place is unique.
