Today you will be collected from your Riviera Maya hotel by a private guide and transferred to Chichén Itzá. En route you will visit Tulum, an ancient cliffside Mayan city, and Cobá, an inland jungle settlement, before continuing your journey and stopping for lunch at the quaint and charming city of Valladolid. After some free time continue on to Chichén Itzá where you will spend a night at the peaceful Lodge at Chichén Itzá, just a short walk from the ruins.
Early in the morning you will be met at the Lodge and taken to Chichén Itzá. Marvel at this famous 1,500 year old pyramid, one of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’, with a privately guided tour. Afterwards you will have the option to swim and relax in one the most important and beautiful Mayan cenotes in the area, before heading north to the town of Izamal for lunch and sightseeing in the 'Yellow City'. From here you will be driven to Hacienda Temozón for a 2 night stay.
This morning you will be collected from the Hacienda for a private full day tour of Uxmal and Kabah’s striking archaeological sites. Gain a sense of history as you walk around the ancient cities, witnessing Uxmal’s colossal Magician’s Pyramid, impressive Governor’s Palace, intricate Dove’s Temple and the grand Nuns Quadrangle plus Kabah’s famous and incredibly ornate Palace of Chaac Masks.
After breakfast you will be collected from the hotel for a privately guided excursion to the walled city of Mayapan, considered the last of the pre-Hispanic developments and one of the most important centres of the Maya civilization before the arrival of the Spanish. After lunch, the journey continues on to Mérida to learn about the city’s colonial architecture, churches and monuments before concluding with a horse drawn carriage ride. In the evening you will be privately transferred to Hacienda San Jose Cholul for an overnight stay.
A full day’s guided tour today begins with the amazing caves of Balankanche, stunning natural stone formations that were a ceremonial site for the Maya, followed by the site of Ek’ Balam discovered by archaeologists who uncovered treasures of buildings and artefacts hidden for hundreds of years. After the tour you will be driven south back to the Riviera Maya to enjoy a final stay at a hotel of your choice.
