Some of their signature treatments include a body massage using homemade warm healing compresses; an exfoliation ritual using freshly crushed Ceylon tea leaves; and a novel hot lava shell massage, which is the world’s first self-heating massage therapy. They also offer Thai massages, deep tissue massages and express manicures/pedicures. Rooms at the resort are all equipped with steam showers and bathtubs to extend your private in-room pampering.

Key to this healing practice are two native Sri Lankan ingredients, Ceylon Tea and Ceylon Cinnamon, both of which they use liberally in their oils, scrubs and poultices. Ceylon Tea is thematic of Cape Weligama and this powerful antioxidant with anti-aging and calming properties helps stimulate circulation and promote detoxification. Sri Lanka produces the world’s finest cinnamon, and this subtly fragrant spice has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine for its healing properties and as a remedy to many skin and health problems.

Galle Fort Cooking Class with Mama
Sri Lankan cuisine is one of the most complex of South Asia. What better place to learn to cook Sri Lankan dishes than within the walls of the historic Galle Fort? The Galle Fort was known as a hub from time immemorial where a multitude of foreign merchants and colonial powers were involved in the spice trade. They all brought their own recipes and ingredients with them and many were incorporated into the dishes seen today which are unique to the Southern part of our island. You will meet your host Mama at a lovely art deco style house in the Galle Fort. Your experience will begin with a visit to a local market, where you will learn how to select the best fresh produce. You will then proceed to the kitchen, which is set in a lovely semi-outdoor courtyard and learn how to prepare mouthwatering Sri Lankan dishes. Grab your copy of the recipes, and ask plenty of questions. Once the class is complete, you will have the opportunity to taste the prepared food in a very relaxed ambience.


Crafting Hands of the South
Deeply connected to Sri Lanka’s ancient history and folklore tales, the art of wooden mask making is a craft that has been passed down generation by generation. Masks are also a distinct element in traditional processions and festivals. Elaborate stories are typically related by dancers wearing masks and are often used during healing rites as well as rituals. A block of wood lays on the table and your host Tharanga begins to explain mask making and its uses. A hammer of sorts and an assortment of chisels begin its work after drawing a rough outline of a face on the block. It’s a lot of hammering and chipping away at this point. There’s an art and technique to it too; hammer and chip too hard and much, you’ll lose too much wood. It’s all about taking your own time and being patient in order to intricately add depth to the mask. Once a basic outline has been created, it’s time to sand in order to create smooth and curvy features. The final step is paint. There are other masks to use as a guide, although the fun and thrill is to veer off the original design and inspire change. This is an engaging activity for the entire family to round out the perfect cultural immersion.


Discover Sri Lankan Cuisine
A guided, detailed exploration into the technically complex, sensory layers of Sri Lankan cuisine, hosted by one of the hotel's chefs. The experience is designed to answer the "why’s" and "how’s" of their methods of cooking, local ingredients, the flavours and home-grown recipes. Their Chef will walk guests through his favourite recipes, his favourite local comfort foods, and secret techniques to create them all. Meanwhile, on the stove, the mustard seeds pop, curry leaves sizzle and cinnamon and other spices release their distinct aromas into the air in the promise of gastronomic indulgence. The experience has two sittings – at 1100 and 1300 each day at – Tableau, the chef’s table restaurant. A scrumptious Sri Lankan lunch will follow. Guests are welcome to get behind the stoves and be as involved as they like.


Cocktail Artistry 
An experienced Cape mixologist will demonstrate how to make two unique cocktails at the relaxed yet refined Surf Bar. Take advantage of the fact that you could customise and personalise your beverage, making them all the more one-of-a-kind and thereby giving their mixologist the opportunity to produce infinite outcomes. This not only presents the mixologist with a healthy challenge but also tests his or her craft. Inspired by the natural surroundings, each cocktail is an amalgamation of hyperlocal ingredients, creative ingenuity and sheer passion for artistry. From the tangy sourness of tamarind to the sweet king coconut water, the fruity calamansi (locally known as narang) and Indian gooseberries combined.

Enjoy a spread of your favourite morning delicacies by opting for the floating breakfast experience. Lounge in your private pool as you dig into your meal. Pause between your meal for a few laps across the length of the pool and return to indulge a little further.


"Virgin White Tea" Estate Tour 
This is a low-country tea plantation within sniffing distance of the sea, owned by third-generation planter and author Herman Gunarathne. The estate is famed for its ‘virgin white tea’, which retails for over US$1,500/kg, and stocks the shelves of tip-top tea gourmet Mariage Frères in Paris. Guided tours of the serene estate include a walk-through of the antique factory and afternoon tea with cake.


Private Whale Watching Cruise
A leisurely morning sail along Sri Lanka's charming southern coastline with an opportunity to see iconic Blue and Sperm whales as you venture further out to sea. Dolphins, turtles and other marine biodiversity can also be sighted. The yachts are of a catamaran style with plenty of space to lounge and relax, and are equipped with a trained team. Breakfast and lunch are cooked fresh onboard. Guests are also welcome to have a swim in the ocean or try stand up paddle boarding in calm waters to make it a fun day out on the water. A naturalist will join the cruise and share interesting information on the whales, as well as other ocean biodiversity and marine ecosystems.


Cliff Edge Dining
The elevated dining locations with panoramic Indian Ocean views allow for dramatic vistas from which to relish a special meal. Lookout Blue is located near the Surf Bar and enjoys the most amazing ocean views from the very edge of the cliff. A specially crafted degustation menu would be served against the backdrop of the rolling surf.


Junior Chef
The hotel has a collection of yummy, interactive and immersive culinary experiences for kids with a local twist, tailored for various age levels. Kids will enjoy making local favourites like 'coconut and treacle' pancakes, or coconut and cinnamon cookies. They will also be guided through how to make a fresh fruit juice and indulge afterwards.


Cycling in the South
Take a ride through the leafy, scenic back-roads of a typical southern village that lies inland from Weligama. The trail snakes its way alongside lush rice paddies, rubber and cinnamon estates, small-holder plantations and home gardens, places of worship, and rural homes.

Surf in Weligama 
The main Weligama Bay is an excellent place to learn to surf with soft, sandy beach waves that rarely exceed one meter. The shallow, sandy bay and gentle waves that roll onshore here particularly suit beginners and young surfers. If you are an advanced surfer and want to get the best conditions, we recommend the winter season as all of the surf spots are working along the south coast, providing fun surf for all levels. Surf is between 2-8ft and winds are normally nonexistent in the morning providing really glassy conditions favorable for surfers. There are long point breaks, hollow reef breaks and fun beach breaks on offer, catering towards all surf levels.

If you are a beginner or a long boarder – then any time of the year is perfect as the friendlier beach breaks work year round. Weligama, where the hotel is situated, is arguably better for learning, providing good surf all day long just in front of Ceylon Sliders. Still, as an advanced surfer, you can catch your waves too, as the outside reef can get real fun and occasionally the bay too; the options of different surf spots are less though compared to the winter season. Winds are side off shore in Weligama throughout most days, so you can surf any time, a great benefit of the summer season. If you want to get the biggest waves possible, we would recommend to come in any of the shoulder seasons, as then the winds are more favourable and the surf is normally bigger.

Uda Walawe Elephant Adventure
Your visit to the scenic Uda Walawe National Park is an opportunity to spend time observing these gentle giants, as well as the other biodiversity that the park is known for. You will also visit the Elephant Transit Home, which is a rehabilitation centre for orphaned elephant calves who are cared for and released into the wild.
