With its heritage setting on Riva degli Schiavoni, Hotel Danieli dominates the Venetian lagoon with spectacular views of the Grand Canal and islands. Also overlooking the Palazzo Ducale, the hotel is just steps away from Ponte Dei Sospiri and Piazza San Marco.
The three palaces which comprise the hotel date from the 14th, 17th and 19th Centuries: Palazzo Dandolo in Venetian Gothic style, once home to the noble Dandolo family; Palazzo Casa Nuova, previously the city’s treasury; and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior, featuring guestrooms with balconies overlooking the lagoon on its upper floors. The three palaces house a rich collection of precious art and antiques that play witness to the city’s history, blended with contemporary comforts to meet the needs of cultured global travelers.
Essential to the Danieli experience is its Restaurant Terrazza Danieli and cuisine concept, a magical voyage for the senses which retraces the oriental influences of spice traders and blends them with ingredients from the lagoon.
Known as an open-air museum, Venice offers an infinite array of interests, culture, and opportunities for relaxation—from inviting beaches to rare artwork and exclusive shopping—all set against the romantic backdrop of the lagoon.
All six of the city’s neighborhoods—sestieri—are easily explored by foot or vaporetto (waterbus). Hotel Danieli guests enjoy particularly easy access to the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. Also, mere steps away, St. Mark's Square beckons with its many attractions, including the Palazzo Ducale, St. Mark's Basilica and its Byzantine Mosaics, St. Mark's Belltower and its views of Venice, and the romantic Bridge of Sighs. The nearby Piombi prison, where Casanova was imprisoned in 1755, is a delight for history lovers.
Directly outside the hotel, water taxis await to whisk visitors on trips to the major lagoon islands—explore Lido for its beaches, Burano for its lacework, Murano for its handcrafted glass, and Torcello for its unpopulated charm. Or leave the city entirely, for a tour of the splendid Venetian Villas on the Brenta Riviera—many designed by the renowned architect Palladio.
Getting to the hotel
It is recommended that guests fly into Venice Marco Polo Airport or arrive by train at the Venice Santa Lucia railway station. Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is about 12 kilometres away from Hotel Danieli, while Venice Santa Lucia Railway Station is 2 kilometres away.
Travel time is approximately 50 minutes from Venice Marco Polo Airport and 25 minutes from Santa Lucia railway station.
Water taxis are available from Venice Marco Polo airport 24 hours a day. No advance bookings are required.
Whether enjoying a sun-drenched lunch on the outdoor terrace or a candle-lit dinner in the sumptuous indoor dining room, the award-winning Restaurant Terrazza Danieli never fails to delight. Boasting the most spectacular views of the “Serenissima”—a magnificent panorama of the Venice Lagoon, the famed Island of San Giorgio, and the tributary of the Grand Canal as it flows into Saint Mark’s basin—the restaurant transports guests back to the heydey of Venice’s influential position as Europe’s crossroad...

Located on the first through fourth floors of both the Palazzo Dandolo and the Palazzo Casa Nuova, these elegant 25- to 35-square-metre Premium Deluxe Double rooms evoke the city’s heritage with their colour palette, furnishings, and dimensions. The dramatic sweep of high ceilings and tall windows is grounded by the comforts of our signature Luxury Collection king or twin size beds, dressed in crisp cotton and topped with down duvets and pillows. Each room’s adjoining marble-clad bathroom features a convenient shower and bathtub combination and thoughtful comforts such as bathrobes and slippers, a hairdryer, a make-up mirror, abundant toiletries, and a telephone.
Palazzo Dandolo:
Housed in the hotel’s 14th-century palace, these Premium Deluxe Doubles enjoy quintessential neighborhood views of the Calle de le Rasse and the Rio del Vin. In homage to Venice’s glorious Empire period, characteristic shades of soft blue and grey, offset by vivid yellow and vibrant red, inform the colour choices for the walls, upholstery, and floor-to-ceiling drapes. A magnificent wardrobe commands one wall, while a generous desk and beautifully restored armchair create an intimate reading and work area. Glints of Murano glass accent the wall sconces and bedside lamps, while a spectacular chandelier hangs from the centre of the ceiling. Gleaming parquet or wool carpeting flow throughout.
Palazzo Casa Nuova:
Located in the 19th-century Baroque palace Casa Nuova, these Premium Deluxe Doubles embody the romance of the Venetian Baroque Era. Tapestries of blue and pink blossoms cover the armchair and headboard, as well as the window drapes. Thick carpeting graces the entire layout. The lacquered furnishings—including an elegant writing table and wardrobe—are bordered in pastels that echo the rich fabrics. The bathroom continues the theme with soft shades of marble and embroidered linens. Murano glass adds fairytale charm, as found on the wall sconces, chandelier, and reading lamps. Charming views of the Calle de le Rasse, Rio del Vin and Calle del Vin capture daily vignettes of Venetian life surrounding the palazzo.

The entirely non-smoking 23- to 29-square metre Luxury guest rooms in the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior enjoy a brilliantly edited design motif—distinct Gothic and Venetian elements create a setting that is both serene and undeniably theatrical. Starting with that unmistakable shade of Doge red in the drapes, the room finds a soothing counterpoint in the artichoke and forest green damask headboard behind the signature Luxury Collection king-size bed. Crisp white cotton linens dress the down duvet and pillows. Etched mirrors frame either side of the bed, their delicate scrollwork, and pattern of flowers lending a lightness to the room. Murano glass bedside lamps cast a rosy glow through red lampshades, while sleek adjustable reading lights are attached to either side of the headboard.
The high ceilings are framed by elaborately gilded molding, adding a regal touch to the inviting living area. The armchair—upholstered in the same deep red seen throughout—and the spacious writing table afford space to work and relax. Elongated windows allow natural light to stream over the parquet or carpeted flooring while offering a view of the neighboring Calle dei Albanesi and Calle de le Rasse.
Integrating a host of modernities, each room features a 32-inch flat screen LCD television with multiple satellite channels and an extensive pay-per-movie menu, High-Speed Internet Access (fee), and direct dial telephones. The refreshment centre holds an assortment of sweet and savoury snacks as well as a variety of beverages.
The adjoining marble-clad bathroom caters to every whim, with a sleek shower and bathtub combination. Plush bathrobes and slippers await, Laura Tonatto toiletries (replenished daily) and additional conveniences such as a hairdryer, make-up mirror, and telephone underscore a sophisticated level of comfort.

Relax by the window of one of the 33-square metre Deluxe Lagoon View Doubles, and soak in one of Europe's most bewitching views—the sparkling Venetian lagoon and its many islands surrounded by a flotilla of boats, gondolas, and vaporettos.
Located on the first through fourth floors of the Palazzo Dandolo and the Palazzo Casa Nuova, each room issues an elegant welcome with its historic details and state-of-the-art modernities. A 32-inch flat screen LCD television stands amidst classic antiques. High-Speed Internet Access (fee) and multiple satellite channels offer guests entertainment options. The light that drifts in through the windows, is augmented by hand-blown Murano glass lamps, wall sconces, and chandeliers.
Each room enjoys the comforts of our signature Luxury Collection twin beds, dressed in pure cotton and topped with down duvets and pillows. The adjoining bathrooms cater to every whim, with sleek shower and bathtub combinations, plentiful toiletries, thick bathrobes and slippers, make-up mirrors, hairdryers, and direct dial telephones. The marble tiling is a lovely extension of each room’s décor. Some Deluxe Lagoon View Doubles enjoy a separate dressing room and separate glass-enclosed shower stall.
Palazzo Dandolo
Among the Deluxe Lagoon View Doubles housed in this magnificent 14th-century palazzo, Room #10 has a particularly auspicious history. Here the renowned love affair between George Sand and Alfred De Musset unfolded. Today, the rooms hearken back to that romantic Empire period with its subtle décor of watery blues, soft greys, light yellows, and passionate reds. An impressive writing desk still inspires, while an armchair stands in direct view of the water. Gleaming parquet floors echo back the soft seductive light.
Palazzo Casa Nuova
Recalling the delicate Venetian Baroque era, these Deluxe Lagoon View Double rooms are appointed with cream tapestries embroidered in a pink and blue floral pattern, and pastel lacquered furnishings to match. Soft carpeting flows throughout, complementing the decidedly feminine aesthetic.

As envisioned by design impresario Jacques Garcia, each newly restyled 28- to 36-square-metre Luxury Lagoon View Double room captures the essence of a Gothic aesthetic, blended with a contemporary sensibility. Gorgeous deep red draperies frame the long picture windows—creating a dramatic counterpoint to the watery still life of the lagoon seen beyond. Some rooms on the upper floors enjoy private wrought-iron balconies and terraces—accessible via wood-trimmed French doors. Armchairs in deep red upholstery stand at a perfect angle to the mesmerizing views.
The rooms’ soaring ceilings are made even more impressive with a trim of wide gilt molding, while the floors are covered in rich parquet or thick carpeting. Floor-to-ceiling curved wardrobe doors are covered in pale artichoke and forest green damask, shimmering softly in the blush of the Murano glass side lamps and chandelier. The same damask graces the arched headboard—complete with sleek adjustable reading lights—that sits behind the signature Luxury Collection twin beds. Dressed in crisp white cotton, duvet and down pillows, the beds create a calming oasis amidst the bold décor.
A 32-inch flat screen LCD television with satellite channels and pay-per-movie menu introduces a modern note, alongside High-Speed Internet Access (fee) and direct-dial telephones. A refreshment centre, tucked inside the wardrobe, tempts with assorted treats and beverages.
The adjoining marble bathroom caters to every whim, with a sleek shower and bathtub combination. Guests will find abundant Laura Tonatto toiletries, plush bathrobes and slippers, a make-up mirror, and salon-style hairdryer at their disposal. Each bathroom also features a separate direct-dial telephone.

Styled in Gothic splendour, the non-smoking 45- to 46-square-metre Executive Suites take their inspiration from the strong lines and colours of Palazzo Dandolo’s historic hall. French interior designer Jacques Garcia evoked the same opulence on a more intimate scale in these superb one-bedroom accommodations. Separated by a wood-trimmed archway from the bedroom, the sitting area features deeply upholstered armchairs and settees in a classic shade of Doge red. Swagged crimson drapes frame views of one of Venice’s most recognizable historic sites—the Palazzo Ducale, or Doge’s Palace. A 42-inch flat screen LCD television with satellite channels and pay-per-movie menu offer modern entertainment options. High-Speed Internet Access (fee) is also available in both rooms.
Exquisite glass lamps, crafted locally on the lagoon island of Murano, cast their glow from the bedside tables, side tables, and an extravagant multi-armed chandelier overhead. The lofty ceilings are framed by heavy gilt moulding, while the parquet floors showcase exquisite oriental carpets. The curved wardrobe doors in the bedroom have been covered in the palest shades of artichoke and forest green damask. The same precious fabric covers the headboard that dominates our signature Luxury Collection king bed. Sleek adjustable reading lights have been attached on either side. A featherweight duvet and down pillows are dressed in crisp white cotton. Beautifully hand-etched mirrors hang to either side of the bed, reflecting the choice materials all around.
The bathroom continues the opulence with marble tiling, a sleek bathtub and shower combination, customised lotions, shampoos and conditioners by Laura Tonatto, plush bathrobes and slippers, a salon-style hairdryer and a make-up mirror.

Located on the second and fourth floors of the Palazzo Casa Nuova, the 44- to 48-square-meter Lagoon View Junior Suites enchant from the moment one steps foot through the door. Undeniably romantic, the Baroque influence is evident in the embroidered pink and blue floral tapestry found in the window treatments and the upholstered furnishings, framed in softly coloured lacquer. Glints of delicate Murano glass in the side lamps, wall sconces, and lustrous chandelier add their own flicker of magic. Soft thick carpeting adds to the intimate ambiance. Each suite’s long French windows open out onto glorious views of the Venetian lagoon and its islands, the Grand Canal and the Riva degli Schiavoni.
In the bedroom, the comforts of the signature Luxury Collection twin beds await. Dressed in pure white linens and topped with a feather weight duvet and down pillows, a dreamy night’s sleep is guaranteed.
On a contemporary note, each suite features a stellar 42-inch flat screen LCD television with multiple satellite channels and an extensive pay-per-movie selection. High Speed Internet Access (fee) is available in both rooms, and direct-dial telephones may be found in the bathroom, sitting area, and by the bed.

Varying in size from 40 to 60 square metres, the one-bedroom suites in Palazzo Danieli Excelsior and Palazzo Casa Nuova feature a host of thoughtful amenities. From the signature Luxury Collection beds to the customised Laura Tonatto toiletries in each bathroom, no detail is spared. Every suite also enjoys a view of the Venetian lagoon, the renowned Grand Canal, and the Riva degli Schiavoni.
Palazzo Danieli Excelsior
Styled by Jacques Garcia with Gothic flair, these non-smoking suites are located on the first through fourth floors of the 20th-century palazzo. The opulent sitting room-its high ceilings framed by gilt molding-features dramatic black marble or ebony stained parquet floors. The Doge-red drapes, settees, and armchairs create a seductive feeling, underscored by the intimate lighting from the Murano side lamps and chandelier. The bedroom is dominated by the magnificent scrolled headboard and curved wardrobe doors covered in pale artichoke and forest green damask. On either side of the bed, etched mirrors reflect the shimmer of precious fabrics and glass. Sleek adjustable reading lights are integrated into the headboard itself.
The marble bathroom features an oversized bathtub and a glass-enclosed shower.
Palazzo Casa Nuova
Recalling the Venetian Baroque era, these one-bedroom suites are a vision of pastel blues, greens, and pinks-evident in the embroidered wall tapestries, lacquered furnishings, and the upholstered armchairs in the sitting room. The old parquet floors are covered in select oriental carpets in the same soft hues. A blush pink Murano chandelier hangs from the high ceiling. Located on the first two floors of this 19th-century palazzo, each suite enjoys floor-to-ceiling windows that open out onto private balconies overlooking the romantic lagoon.
The elegant bedroom features tapestry on the walls, wardrobe doors, and headboard. Murano lamps sit on the bedside tables, while adjustable reading lights are attached to the headboard itself.
The adjoining bathroom features a separate bathtub and a glass-encased shower—all tiled in soft pink and green marble.

Embracing the spirit of eras gone by, the Signature Suites at the Hotel Danieli deliver an exceptional experience—transporting guests to a time of breathtaking grandeur. Varying from 65 to 73 square metres, each one-bedroom Signature Suite may be connected to adjoining Lagoon View Double rooms, Premium Deluxe Rooms, or a second Signature Suite to form two, three, four and five-bedroom suites—perfect for families or larger parties travelling together. Each suite features private balconies with views of the Venetian lagoon, its islands, the incomparable Grand Canal, and the ornate Punta della Dogana.
The extravagantly high ceilings and original parquet or stone terrazzo alla veneziana floors convey an undeniable elegance. The pale damask fabric used to cover the walls and armchairs, and frame the full-length windows, adds shimmering texture to the room without weighing down the décor. Fresh flowers in Murano glass vases fill the rooms with their delicate scent—standing on heavily carved and gilded sideboards and side tables. The prized antique Murano mirrors that hang in the sitting room fill the rooms with light from the breathtaking chandeliers. In tribute to the Italian Baroque masters, priceless paintings depicting historical scenes of Venice, grace the walls.
Complete with the signature Luxury Collection bed, the bedrooms are appointed with exquisite Italian antiques and paintings, while the adjoining marble bathrooms promise to indulge with their customised Acqua di Parma toiletries, the plush bathrobes and slippers, and the salon style hairdryer and make-up mirror. A convenient bathtub and shower combination, two marble-clad vanities, and a separate glass-enclosed shower round out the bathroom features.
State-of-the-art touches complement the historical ambiance—a stellar sound system, CD/DVD player, and 42-inch flat screen LCD television with pay-per-view movies and satellite channels. High Speed Internet Access (fee) and direct dial telephones offer seamless connections to home or work.
Film aficionados may be interested to note that Signature Suite #68 was featured in the Italian classic “Viaggi di Nozze” by Carlo Verdone.

Boasting several balconies with 180° panoramic views of the lagoon, the sweeping 150-square-metre Doge’s Royal Suite offers a taste of regal life. Terrazzo alla veneziana floors, covered by antique carpets, anchor the museum-quality furnishings and artwork. The sitting area features ornate gilded Baroque armchairs, upholstered in green and gold damask—the colours echo the spirals of gold dust dancing in the 18th and 19th century Murano glass chandeliers. The soaring ceilings in the living room boast continuous dark wooden beams. A decorative fireplace with altar-like mantle presents the Dandolo family coat of arms, accented on either side by antique paintings of members of the royal household.
An ornate doorway leads to the elegant bedroom with two signature Luxury Collection queen beds. Each bed frame and headboard is made from beautifully burled wood. The golden coverlets are styled from the same silk that lines the walls. On the elaborate stucco ceiling, an original 18th century fresco of “putti” angels by Iacopo Guarana has been restored to perfection.
The adjoining marble-clad bathroom is an equivalent study in opulence. A separate powder room is conveniently located by the entry corridor of the suite.
The Doge’s Royal Suite may connect with additional guest rooms and suites to form up to a five-bedroom suite.
