As the only hotel inside Iguassu National Park, Belmond Hotel das Cataratas gives guests unique access to the breathtaking falls—one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the World. While other visitors must comply with park opening hours, Iguassu is yours to enjoy at dawn and dusk when, in total peace, animals rise from slumber and return to their roosts. Wander secluded trails as the rising sun illuminates the cascading falls and you’ll know that these moments are memories in the making.
Although it's just 15 km from Foz do Iguaçu International Airport, Belmond Hotel das Cataratas feels a world away from civilization. Shrouded by tropical rainforest, it’s a place where nature abounds. Stroll through gardens bejewelled by orchids and bromeliads as you revel in sounds of the jungle.
Yet the allure of the hotel relies on more than a stunning location. The pastel pink hacienda brings the glamor of yesteryear into the modern world. Step into a realm of nostalgic elegance. Here, the wonders of Iguassu truly extend indoors.
Brazil buzzes with life and colour. From carnival cities to historic towns, sugar-white sands to sprawling rainforests, there’s so much to explore.
A chain of 275 otherworldly cascading waters surrounded by rare flora and fauna, the Iguassu Falls are one of the seven wonders of the natural world. Yet as the world’s fifth largest country, Brazil boasts attractions that could keep a bold traveller busy for a lifetime. The country is simply magnetic. Relax into the rhythms of a land that’s totally unique.
Visitors may be drawn to Rio, the samba city on the sea where the party never stops, yet the Amazon rainforest is equally iconic. Sip cool caipirinhas and feast on barbecues as you prepare to make memories that will stay with you forever.
Hotel das Cataratasa, Belmond Hotel lies deep in the country’s southwest, near the Triple Frontier where Brazil meets Paraguay and Argentina. Set inside an abundant national park in the shadow of the astonishing Iguassu Falls, it’s a sanctuary cradled in the arms of Mother Nature.
The Iguassu Falls are simply mesmeric: a staggering chain of waterfalls shrouded by a thriving, diverse array of rare flora and fauna. Guarani legend tells that long ago there was a girl named Naipi who was so beautiful she could still the waters of the Iguassu River. To escape being sacrificed to the serpent god M’Boi, she fled with her lover. Furious, M’Boi forged cracks in the earth. Naipi was transformed into a rock and her lover drowned. Thus the Iguassu Falls were formed.
Today, gazing at the waterfalls, it seems fitting that their design may have been supernatural; they are a compelling reminder of nature’s power. Cascading waters form a three-kilometer chain and flow at 1,000 meters per second. Getting close to the falls in a dingy is almost transcendental. The bird’s-eye-view of Devil’s Throat as seen from a helicopter is perhaps only surpassed by the sheer magic of witnessing a lunar rainbow, a spectacle to which Belmond guests have privileged access. To venture into the surrounding National Park is to encounter endless treasures. Wander through enchanting rainforest, find sanctuary in the Bird Park or cross the border and see the falls from Argentina.
Belmond Hotel das Cataratas is located within the national park and only a 25 minute journey by car from Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (IGU) in Brazil and about 45 minutes from Puerto Iguazu Airport (IGR) in Argentina.
