Facing the Luberon, on one of the hills of the Monts de Vaucluse, La Coquillade Provence has been home to generations of wine producers dating back to the thirteenth century. The property is a crossing point for migratory birds and the charming hotel gets its name from the Provençal word for crested lark, “Couquihado.”
The hamlet was built on a hill encircled by vineyards over a period of centuries. It was acquired in 2007 by Andreas Rihs, entrepreneur and Swiss financier, and has undergone major construction and restoration. Managers Carmen and Werner Wunderli, Swiss by origin but Provençal at heart, have put all their energy into realizing this ambitious project, which is now complete. Now in its fourth year of existence, the hotel offers high-quality service in an exceptional environment.
