The Capra has been designed through a collaboration of Swiss architects and British interior designers, focusing on fusing the alpine traditional character with modern luxury. The materials used have been primarily sourced locally within the Saas Valley and Switzerland.
The story of the naming of The Capra is inspired by the Latin word for mountain goat and after the black and white goats that roam the valleys and peaks around Saas-Fee. Unique to the Valais region, these adventurous creatures reflect the hotel’s authentic sense of place and respect for the natural environment. The two-tone goats also embody the ying-yang – the holistic harmony between man and nature, mind and body, which is the hallmark of The Capra.
Saas-Fee, known as the ‘Pearl of the Alps’, and the Saastal Valley are surrounded by no less than eighteen 4,000-metre peaks! Its breathtaking landscape of beautiful mountains and glaciers is simply amazing to behold.
Saas-Fee’s ski area is one of the highest in the Alps, popular for summer skiing on the glacier as well as the winter pistes that spread over a bigger area. It has been rated as the Alpine ski resort with the most reliable snow cover. A great network of cableways takes skiers and snowboarders up into the mountains. On top of that, Saas-Fee also offers plenty of other winter sports such as sledging ice climbing, snowshoe trails, winter hiking, Bavarian curling, cross-country skiing and much more.
Saas-Fee is easily accessible from both Geneva (2hrs 40min by car or 3hrs 30min by train) and Zurich (3hrs 20min by train) airports via scenic journeys that run alongside Switzerland’s greatest lakes, vineyards and mountains ranges. Saas Fee is also easily accessible via Sion airport (1hr 10min by car), which caters for private jets along with some commercial flights.
