Designed by Kyle Phillips, the three magnificent courses will inspire the novice player and set a challenge for the most experienced. Kyle, famous for his designs of links courses such as Kingsbarns Golf Links in Scotland, has created two 18-hole championship golf courses and a nine-hole par-3 course at Verdura. Every hole offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea, within an amphitheatre of Sicilian mountains. The two 18-hole courses, The East and The West, challenge golfers of all abilities and have five tee positions on each hole. 1. A WORDY GOODNIGHT
To wish you goodnight, and to remind you of the polycultural nature of Sicily, that crossroads to all corners of the Mediterranean, the history of a Sicilian word is placed on your pillow every night. Each word carries in its etymology the story of three thousand years of encounters, traditions and different cultures, ranging from Greek to Arabic, from Norman to Catalan and French. Cultures that are still “living” today, all there at your fingertips, to be discovered as soon as the sun rises. What’s more they’re just a few kilometres from the resort.

2. ALLEGRACORI (THAT WHICH PUTS JOY IN THE HEART). THE JOY OF SATURDAY
In Sicilian, Saturday is known as the allegracori, because it’s the day set aside for putting joy in one’s heart. Recalling his childhood, Leonardo Sciascia wrote: “We celebrated Saturdays with a song that went: Lu sabatu si chiama allegracori, biatu chi ha una bella moglie (Saturday is the day that puts joy in our hearts, lucky is he who has a beautiful wife).” Saturdays put joy in one’s heart, that’s why the resort has organised a series of special events, including dinners, tastings, games and concerts. You can’t begin to imagine the amount of joy and spontaneity there is in a Sicilian Saturday.

3. SHALL WE DANCE?
Fifty five years ago, in May 1962, shooting began for the film of Luchino Visconti’s masterpiece Il Gattopardo (The Leopard). One scene in particular has remained in the hearts of many lovers of great cinema. And that is the dance scene in the spectacular ballroom of the Palazzo Valguarnera-Ganci, in Palermo. Remember Claudia Cardinale’s grace and Burt Lancaster’s irresistible charm? They danced a waltz, arranged by Nino Rota from an original score by Giuseppe Verdi. And remember how seductive that amazing couple’s body language was? Step back to the time when men and women fell in love as they sank into each other’s arms, in tune to the magic of the music. There is a school where you can learn the romantic waltz, and who knows what might happen...

4. CHILDREN, LET’S HUG TREES
If we love nature, nature will love us back. If we hug nature, nature will hug us back. An important ecological lesson for your children, for all of our futures in other words.  What could be more gratifying than receiving a gift of your own tree to look after, even if it’s just for a few days? Each child will be given an olive tree from the resort's grounds. And each morning young guests and their parents can go out and greet it with a hug. All together, so they can feel the force of nature and the love that inspires us every day.

5. OUR GUESTS AS AMBASSADORS OF TRADITION
Sicily is a land of ancient traditions. But traditions need to be “reborn” each day, to renew their energy, otherwise they die. That’s why the resort has created a school of ceramics and a school of puppet theatre, run by the island’s master craftsmen. What about the pupils? Beginning with Agrigento:

SAN LEONE BEACH
A large beach of golden sand, equipped with beach facilities in the part that’s closest to the town. There are sand dunes in the wild, windswept eastern part. It’s ideal for lovers of surfing and kiteboarding

PORTO EMPEDOCLE BEACH
The luxuriously long Lido Azzurro beach offers golden sand, crystal clear sea and excellent beach facilities.

REALMONTE BEACH - SCALA DEI TURCHI
This is the home of one of the wonders of Sicily that have been included in the collection of the Italian Environmental Fund. A spectacular white limestone cliff with wide steps in the form of waves descending towards the sea. You need to take care when descending.  

LE PERGOLE BEACH
Dominated by a cape and the sixth century Torre di Monterosso, the beach is comprised of tiny coves with fine sand and crystal clear sea. To get to the beach you need to go down a fairly steep slope.

GIALLONARDO BEACH
This long, scenic beach consists of two beaches, which are both sandy. The Baia delle Sirene languishes on the right, overlooking the sea. On your left lies La Spiagetta, famous for its clay, an ideal location for a natural treatment.

SICULIANA MARINA
A small seaside town, surrounded by hills, overlooking a beautiful beach with golden sand and crystal clear water.   

BOVO MARINA
A long beach with the finest sand, winking between the blue of the sea and the white of Capo Bianco. The hinterland is unusually green. The beach, which is also used by nudists, is divided into two parts: one of which is natural, almost Caribbean, and the other equipped with bars and restaurants. 

ERACLEA MINOA BEACH
Considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily, Eraclea Minoa offers 6 km of breathtaking coastline with the finest sand, blue water and a lush pine grove. The famous archaeological site is just a few kilometres away. 

SECCA GRANDE
A gravel and pebble beach, with deep blue, transparent water.

PIANA GRANDE
A large pebble beach that extends all the way to the mouth of the Verdura River.

CAPO SAN MARCO BEACH
This large beach with golden sand and pebbles is located inside the Capo San Marco Nature Reserve. 

PORTO PALO BEACH
A paradise of a beach with the finest sand, famous for its deep blue water, although it does tend to be on the cold side. The water is shallow, child depth. 

SELINUNTE BEACH
Marinella Beach, inside the River Belice Nature Reserve, offers the finest sand and crystal clear water, characterised by its shallowness.

Verdura Resort extends its gastronomic offering through a unique partnership with Pietro Leemann, internationally reknowned Michelin-starred chef, with his natural and vegetarian haute cuisine proposal. His dishes are based on the “we are what we eat” concept and created with organic and seasonal local vegetables only, most from the very own Verdura vegetable garden and orchards.
