The dome shaped restaurant focuses on sculptural elements made of coated mud brick that incorporates niches for tables and seats. To counterbalance the simplicity and weight of the mud brick, copper highlights are added throughout. Above the tables organically shaped copper shades resemble floating rocks. Breakfast features a wide array of traditional Sri Lankan & international breakfast favourites. Lunch is a la carte with perennial favourites with a Wild Coast twist, comfort food, healthy options & more. Dinner is a wondrous affair featuring unique fare inspired by nature and the freshness of local produce.

Sit alongside the pool, overlooking the deep blue Indian Ocean and allow yourself to journey across a tasting of temperamental liquid aperitifs. The space crowned by a large bamboo chandelier sets the tone for an evening of drinks to come. Dusk arrives with its glorious pastel and golden hues and the mixologists are at the ready. A cocktail tasting aligns drinks in a sequence; each advancing in sense, taste, richness and quality. It creates a tipsy experience, easing the drinker through a range of flavours, body and temperatures. There’s a sense of purpose; a beginning, a middle and an end.

Inspired by the natural surroundings, each cocktail is an amalgamation of hyperlocal ingredients, creative ingenuity and sheer passion for artistry. From the tangy sourness of tamarind to the high temperature emanating from scotch bonnets (locally known as kochchi), sweet king coconut water to fruity calamansi (locally known as narang), spicy green chillies and Indian gooseberries combined.

A wide selection of included wines and spirits are on offer. Take advantage of the fact that you could customise and personalise your beverage, making them all the more one-of-a-kind and thereby giving the mixologist the opportunity to produce infinite outcomes. This not only presents the mixologist with a healthy challenge but also tests his or her craft.

Game Drives
The climb takes approximately three and a half hours (the way is paved with steps) and the trail is flanked by the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary – one of Sri Lanka’s highest protected forest reserves. Views from the top are stunning, especially early morning as the warmth of dawn lights up the country in an endless vista of forests, valleys, mountains and lakes.


Guided Nature Walk
Explore the wilderness in and around Wild Coast Tented Lodge in the company of an expert ranger, who will point out visible animals as well as identify tracks of animals that have traversed the property recently. The combination of their ranger’s knowledge and the ability to walk through the forestry makes for the quintessential wilderness experience. A great experience for families.


Birding Experience at Bundala National Park
Bundala National Park’s wetland and saltern habitat is home to a large collection of resident birds, as well as migrants that visit every winter, from waders to raptors. Sightings of other key species such as elephants, crocodiles, wild boar, buffalo, spotted deer, and terrestrial birds can be expected.

A bicycle ride through the village gives an authentic and fascinating perspective to the charm and scenic beauty of this island home. Kirinda also straddles a lot of forest area which is home to wildlife, especially birdlife on its Bundala flank.

Explore Kataragama Temple
Kataragama is one of the few religious sites in Sri Lanka that is venerated by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and the Veddas (indigenous group of people of Sri Lanka). It is a temple complex dedicated to the Buddhist guardian deity ‘Kataragama deviyo’ and Hindu War God Kathirkamam.


Explore Sithulpawwa Ancient Jungle Monastery
Sithulpawwa is an ancient Buddhist monastery, believed to date back to 2nd Century BC. The monastery straddles a collection of rocky outcrops and caves deep in the heart of the Yala National Park. There are said to be hundreds of caves and shelters within and around the complex that have housed monks (for centuries) who came to the site to further their education as well as to meditate.


Uda Walawe Elephant Adventure
En route to Wild Coast Tented Lodge from Ceylon Tea Trails, stop midway at the Uda Walawe National Park which cares for orphaned elephants – many of whom are calves. The ETH undertakes an effective rescue and rehabilitation programme that takes in and looks after orphaned elephant calves with minimal human contact and returns them to the wild when they are older.


Junior Ranger
The Junior Ranger programme introduces multiple aspects of the excitement of the wilderness to kids of all ages. A feature experience is Camping 101 (targeted at ages 10 and above). The programme features multiple options. The longest and most comprehensive is a 3-day experience (covering animal identification, footprint identification and tracking, and animal groups characteristics) with a certification. 'Specialist' certification includes training kids on their favourite animal (for example, an elephant specialist) or even a 'Junior Tracker ' certification aimed at spoor interpretation. 


Junior Chef
There is a collection of yummy, interactive and immersive culinary experiences for kids with a local twist, tailored for various age levels. Kids will enjoy the first-hand experience of making local favourite ‘coconut and treacle pancakes’, or coconut and cinnamon cookies.
 

Wilderness Dining
The rugged beach sand dunes are the perfect spot for a picnic or a gourmet candlelit meal. Dune dining juxtaposes the harmony of flavours and spices on your plate with the drama of dining privately on a wild coastline.
 

Discover Sri Lankan Cuisine
The Wild Coast Tented Lodge version of a Sri Lankan cookery class – a more hands-on introduction to the island fare. Guests will get to mix their own spices, season their ingredients and cook their own lunch, under the watchful eye and instruction of one of the lodge's chefs. The experience is not a typical 'demo' but more an interactive learning experience on how to make some of Sri Lanka's favourite and most popular dishes.
