The curandero, Benjamin Aguilar Zepeda, draws on traditional Mexican healing practices in treatments such as the Temazcal ceremony, massage, yoga sessions and energetic cleansings. A curandero is someone who heals with either natural methods or rituals, but is not a physician. 

Meaning ‘house of heat’, Temazcal is led by Mexican Curanderos. Practiced for health and purification since pre-Hispanic times it is a therapeutic ceremony using hot stones, herbs and indigenous chanting to stimulate detoxification, heal the body and purify the mind.

TRADITIONAL PASTES
Discover the distinctive flavours and heartwarming delights of the traditional Mexican Paste. Similar to empanadas, but with a technique and history all their own, these delectable hand-pies were first introduced in Hidalgo, Mexico as a convenient and hearty meal for local miners. Expert chefs will teach you how to make this tasty and versatile dish yourself, starting with rolling out the flakiest of pastry doughs, then wrapping it around a range of seasonal fillings, from savoury to sweet.

FUNDAMENTAL FLATBREADS
The only thing better than freshly baked flatbreads emerging from Alma’s authentic clay oven is learning how to create them yourself. The chefs will share their culinary secrets on baking up these tantalizing delicacies from scratch. You’ll choose which local ingredients to top yours with, either borrowing a page from Alma’s innovative flatbreads menu or forging a flavourful new direction of your own.

BARISTA WORKSKOP
Wake up and smell the coffee, heading for an interactive barista workshop at Alma. Understand how different variables affect the coffee you drink, including ‘pour over coffee’, French press, and espresso. You’ll leave with three different coffee techniques to make your perfect brew and a bag of premium coffee beans to enjoy at home.
