Chengdu: Much More Than Pandas

Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is best known for the pandas. And although no trip to Chengdu is complete without a visit to the nearby Dujiangyan Panda Base, this sprawling city has much more to offer.

For starters, it has one of China's best culinary scenes, and lovers of spicy food will have their palates satisfied, for sure.

Chengdu is also one of China's tea capitals, and locals fill its many tea houses daily to drink and chat.

Kuan Zhai Xiang Zi Alley is full of Qing Dynasty constructions, offering a glimpse into Chengdu's past.

And not far away, Mount Qingcheng, one of the country's most important Taoist mountains, is a wonderful getaway.

Chengdu is definitely one of China's most interesting cities, with a strong character that will leave a lasting imprint on you.
