Hello again, my fellow four-legged friends (and their loyal humans). It’s me, Pixie: your resident expert in luxury living. Recently, I set my paws on another icon of British elegance: Cliveden House in Berkshire. Let me tell you, this wasn’t just a hotel stay. It was like stepping straight into history, with all the creature comforts a pampered pup like me could ever dream of.
Grand First Impressions
The moment we arrived, my humans gasped (and I don’t blame them). Cliveden House, once home to the famous Lady Astor, has welcomed guests like Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin. And now, me! The entrance is all sweeping staircases, gilded details, and roaring fireplaces. Despite the grandeur, I felt right at home. The staff greeted me warmly, and at the Astor Grill, I was spoiled with a homemade doggy treat and even a blanket to curl up on while my humans sipped sparkling Nyetimber. Now that’s service!
A Suite Fit for a Princess (and a Pooch)
We were shown to the Prince of Wales Suite, which honestly looked like a scene from one of those period dramas my humans love to watch on TV. High ceilings, lavish décor, and a bathroom that gleamed with modern luxury. But the best part? A soft, snuggly dog bed just for me, plus a towel in case my paws got a little muddy. They really thought of everything.
Walkies, Wonders & the Thames
Here’s the bit that had me racing in circles with excitement: Cliveden sits on 376 acres of National Trust gardens and woodland. Can you imagine the smells? The squirrels? The endless trails? Pure heaven. And that’s not all! You can even hop on a boat for a scenic trip along the River Thames. Wind in my fur, nose in the air; it just doesn’t get much better.
Dog-Friendly Delights
Four-pawed guests like me are welcome throughout the hotel, except in the Cliveden Dining Room and the spa (fair enough, I’d rather be outside sniffing around anyway). Do note there are a few estate restrictions for pups, which my humans checked on the National Trust website before we went. But with so much open space, I never once felt short of adventure.
Time Out for the Humans
While I was busy exploring, my humans enjoyed the legendary Cliveden Spa. Think outdoor pool, jacuzzi bubbles, and a fully equipped gym (I stuck with chasing squirrels instead). By the time they returned, they looked as relaxed and happy as I felt. Win-win!
