As part of the multimillion-pound restoration of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, the newly renovated reception and lobby areas of the hotel are now ready for guests to enjoy. The internationally respected designer Joyce Wang is behind the decorative concept for these spaces, as well as the guest rooms and suites, taking her design influence from the calmness and beauty of nature in neighbouring royal Hyde Park and the glamour of the Golden Age of travel.

In the reception area, look out for two striking glass chandeliers that represent unfurling flowers, as well as acorn-inspired light fittings, carpets that conjure the image of fallen leaves, and intriguing bark-effect wall coverings. The result of a collaboration with London-based design duo Fredrikson Stallard, a bespoke, polished aluminium sculpture greets guests upon entering the hotel, while exquisite blown-glass pieces by San Min Lee demarcate the new lobby lounge area in a meeting of craftsmanship and luxury.
